2010 Fantasy Football Rankings - Cincinnati Bengals

2010 Fantasy Football Rankings: Cincinnati Bengals

2010 Fantasy Football Rankings - Cincinnati Bengals:

  • Carson Palmer, QB, Bengals. Bye: 6.

It's now or never for Carson Palmer. With Antonio Bryant, Jermaine Gresham and Jordan Shipley joining Chad Ochocinco, there are no more excuses. Palmer didn't appear 100 percent last year, but he didn't have anyone to work with besides No. 85. If Palmer can bounce back physically - and that's a huge IF - he can be a low-end QB1.

Projected 2010 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 222.

Projected 2010 Fantasy Points (QB Friendly): 303.

  • Cedric Benson, RB, Bengals. Bye: 6.

One of my favorite sleepers last year, Cedric Benson exceeded my expectations, and rushed for 1,251 yards and six touchdowns in only 13 games.

    Projected 2010 Fantasy Points: 192.

Projected 2010 PPR Fantasy Points: 212.

The handcuff for Cedric Benson if you're into that sort of thing. Scott rushed for 119 yards on 21 carries at Oakland and 87 yards on 18 attempts against the Browns in his two starts last year.

    Projected 2010 Fantasy Points: 59.

Projected 2010 PPR Fantasy Points: 69.

  • Chad Ochocinco, WR, Bengals. Bye: 6.

Reasons not to like Chad Ochocinco this year:

    Projected 2010 Fantasy Points: 141.

Projected 2010 PPR Fantasy Points: 212.

Antonio Bryant is two years removed from 83 receptions, 1,248 yards and six touchdowns. Eager fantasy players looking for Bryant to duplicate those stats will likely be disappointed; Bryant is a lazy bum who has never tried hard after signing a contract. Carson Palmer's health is also in doubt.

    Projected 2010 Fantasy Points: 101.

Projected 2010 PPR Fantasy Points: 156.

Jordan Shipley and Andre Caldwell will battle for the slot receiver job this year. I believe Shipley will win the competition because Caldwell isn't very good. If Shipley becomes the full-time slot receiver, he'll be a decent backup in deeper PPR leagues.

    Projected 2010 Fantasy Points: 56.

Projected 2010 PPR Fantasy Points: 106.

  • Jermaine Gresham, TE, Bengals. Bye: 6.

Jermaine Gresham is an insanely talented tight end who should become an immediate end-zone threat for the Bengals. Cincinnati's current coaching staff has no history of turning tight ends into fantasy stars, but the front office didn't select Gresham at No. 21 overall so he could just block and stand on the sidelines.

    Projected 2010 Fantasy Points: 99.

Projected 2010 PPR Fantasy Points: 147.

The Bengals always produce a large number of turnovers under Marvin Lewis. The key will be Antwan Odom's health. If Odom can completely recover the Achillies' tendon tear he suffered in October, Cincinnati might be able to generate 40 sacks in 2010.

    2001 Cincinnati Bengals season explained

    2001 Cincinnati Bengals season explained

The 2001 Cincinnati Bengals season was the team's 34th year in professional football and its 32nd with the National Football League. In the first full season with Dick LeBeau as head coach, the Bengals abandoned their plans for developing quarterback Akili Smith as their starter by acquiring Jon Kitna from the Seattle Seahawks. The Bengals would win their first two games with Kitna behind center, and sat at 4–3 through the first seven games of the season. However, the Bengals would struggle again, losing their next seven games as Kitna struggled with inconsistency, throwing 22 interceptions while throwing only 12 Touchdown passes. The Bengals would win their final two games to close the season with a mediocre 6–10 record, their 11th straight season without tallying a winning record. Despite the team's struggles, All-Pro running back Corey Dillon had another stellar year, rushing for 1,315 yards. [1]

2001 would turn out to be an important year for the team, as players such as Justin Smith, Chad Johnson, and T. J. Houshmandzadeh were drafted, all those players would be important to Cincinnati in later years.
